Walls are meant to show character.
The facade of a place tells us so much of what we need to know about the structure it makes up. These “faces” can me comprised of many materials or just one, be colorful or monotone, display images or words.
Windows and doors form human faces. Some faces are welcoming while others scream at you to steer clear of them.
This work serves as a head on, sociological appreciation of the walls of North Chicago - the Faces of the Places that I cherish. As gentrifiers threaten to modernize and grey-ify our walls into minimalist oblivion, it remains imperative that we appreciate our facades for the first impressions that they gift us.
